As part of a research collaboration with the Fraunhofer IAO this ‘future hotel’ demonstration project investigated the interfaces between architecture, technology and the human body.
Anti-jet-lag lights, an active comfort bed, personal spa area, intelligent mirror and fully integrated media meet the needs of tomorrow’s hotel guests. The free-form outer skin is the interface between technology and the human body. Human comfort was of paramount concern . Technology was designed to function almost invisibly in the background, whilst providing the opportunity for individual control of media, light and interior climate.
The Future Hotel formed part of the IAO Inhaus2, a program that focused on meeting the expectations and requirements of hotel guests using tomorrow’s technology. It featured the latest innovations in the fields of media and visual communication, along with prototypical products developed by renowned manufacturers.
The project won a 2009 Australian Interior Design Award.
